Broken Mirror

By Jacob-Joseph

You thought breaking the mirror
So you couldn’t see yourself
Would erase the guilt from your eyes.
But the shattered glass fell
In the shape of a broken heart,
And you stare at your reflection
Without affection.
Your eyes shine in shards seven more times.

You pick up a shard of the mirror
And you see yourself,
So fixated on the crack in your eye.
Then the shattered glass fell
And you stare at the crimson,
Leaving skin’s prison,
Falls to the shards and paints the heart bright.

You lay down next to your broken mirror,
As you fall, feel yourself
In a fetal position, nothing more than a child.
Like the shattered glass fell,
Your broken and bottled
Emotions unthrottled
Rampage as your mind takes rest for the night.

Father’s laid you next to your broken mirror,
So you see yourself,
In need of Him more than I.
You know, for you I fell,
But it’s He who is greater,
We are here for you,
But bathing in His truth,
Is the only true way to find eternal life.

You thought breaking the mirror
So you couldn’t see yourself
Would erase the guilt from your eyes.
But the shattered glass fell
In the shape of a broken heart,
Falling down is not the end,
It’s done so you might then
See he’ll forgive seventy times seven more times.
